Bouquet of the Week: Inside a Snowglobe

As part of our recurring Bouquet of the Week series, Garden Collage continues to present a weekly inspirational bouquet that incorporates intriguing new elements into the traditional practice of flower arranging. This week, Garden Collage Shop Administrator Antigone Berisha styles a bouquet that harkens to a winter wonderland.

As the world is wreaking havoc around us, the holiday season provides a temporary distraction. This time of year I choose to live in a snow globe– protected by the glass and sheltering myself and my family from the world’s harsh realities.

Every day is a new adventure with my kids, and leading up to the holidays is when we make several special memories. Every year we take a road trip to upstate New York to pick out a tree, decorate Christmas cookies, visit Santa and more. Every year in anticipation, we wait for the first snowfall (which only occurred recently), and lucky for me, I found out via my very own personal alarm clock, the kids, screaming “finally, it snowed!” very early in the morning. In these moments, I feel like a kid again– experiencing the beauty and magic of winter and the holidays through my children’s eyes.

For this Bouquet of the Week, I was overwhelmed by the limitless options of beautiful flowers I had at my disposal as a member of the Garden Collage staff, as each is unique in their own way. I kept gravitating towards the reds and greens, which, if you ask me, screams festive. I liked that the wild, frail stems I chose stand in skewed array, as if they’re being blown by rough winter winds. Last but not least, I added some roses, not only because they are my favorite flower but because I felt some lightness was needed in the arrangement.

As the New Year inevitably approaches, nature will run its natural course and seasons will inevitably come and then go, but the freedom to create beautiful and memorable adventures with the kids anytime is one gift I will be sure not to take for granted.
