Start The School Day Right With This Pink Breakfast Bowl

With the school year coming up fast, we prepared a sendoff to summer packed with berries and edible flowers, and inspired by a recipe found in Green Kitchen Smoothies. We made a few adjustments to make the recipe kid-friendly (like leaving off the protein powder) but the recipe is flexible and can changed up with whatever is seasonal. 

The bowl is packed with nutrients to ensure kids get a running start to their day. Banana offers potassium and lots of fiber, blueberries keep their brain sharp, raspberries and blackberries have plenty of essential vitamins and nutrients, and the flax and chia seeds add plenty of micronutrients and Omega-3 fatty acids. Meanwhile, nut butter gives Lil’ Sprouts an extra boost of protein in the morning (which has a whole host of benefits for their health). Check out the recipe below.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 cups frozen raspberries
  • 1 Tbsp nut butter of choice
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • hemp seeds
  • chia seeds
  • coconut shavings
  • fresh blackberries
  • fresh blueberries
  • edible flowers
Preparation
1.

Add banana, raspberries, nut butter, and lemon to blender with a half cup of milk. Blend on high, slowly adding the milk.

Pour into bowl and sprinkle with the hemp seeds, chia seeds, coconut shavings, fresh blackberries, fresh blueberries, and flowers.
