Obsessed With Chocolate? Try A Cacao Ceremony

Take your chocolate loving to the next level.

On Sunday, July 16th, The Be Hive is hosting a daylong cacao ceremony, which runs from 12 PM to 4 PM. The event is led by the pair behind KakawSana: Paola I´x and Gustavo Ik. The former is from Bogotá, Colombia and created The “Eterno Sol Yoga & Mindfulness” program, while the latter hails from Tepic, Nayarit, México and is a practitioner of The Law of Time Teachings and the Synchronic order.

Together, the two offer ceremony a honoring Theobroma cacao (in its purest organic, ceremonial grade form), which they describe as opening the heart on a spiritual level, in addition to its many physiologically beneficial properties, like being rich in antioxidants.

Participants are told to bring a cup for cacao, a shawl for warmth, a pillow to sit on, light food for the communal potluck (probably not anything with cacao), dresses for women and pants for men, and anything else that may be sacred to them personally. The cost of the event is $80, but organizers are flexible for those who may need financial assistance.

The Be Hive is located at 6427 Sunset Blvd. Los Angeles, CA. For more information, or to purchase tickets, head to The Be Hive’s website.

Into cacao but can’t devote a whole afternoon to its worship? Head to Chocovivo, a chocolate apothecary in Los Angeles.
