A look inside the New York Botanical Garden’s forthcoming Frida Kahlo exhibit.
14 rare, original Frida Kahlo works will be displayed amongst an array of plants that are symbolically significant to Mexico– including succulents, cacti, passion fruit, and more.
Frida Kahlo: Garden will explore Kahlo’s art and the native Mexican plants from which she drew inspiration.

The exhibition includes a re-imagining of Kahlo’s studio overlooking the garden, as well as the organ pipe cactus fence located at Rivera’s studio in nearby San Ángel.
A pyramid originally used to display the collected work of muralist Diego Rivera (Kahlo’s husband) is reconfigured as an alter for native Mexican plants housed in terra cotta.

Inside the exhibit, visitors are welcome to stroll amongst Kahlo’s work and the plant life that inspired it.
