GC held it’s inaugural floral salon on May 4th and we decked our space out in honor of the occasion. Check out our tips for botanical décor at your next event!
Draping light fixtures, sculpture, and other interior objets d’art with flower crowns is a nuanced way to make a statement. Here, we strung the paper deer sculpture in our bathroom with rings of ornate roses and delphiniums. The results are both stately and playful.
When it comes to flowers, there’s no such thing as excess. Elevate your wedding, bridal shower, birthday, or other celebratory event by expanding the color palette to include multiple shades of the same hue. Having a color gradient is key to maintaining visual intrigue.
At your next get-together, consider adding a novel feature: an interior window box. While most people know the feature as a box that hangs outside of a window, window boxes function really well indoors– they’re unexpected, they add a lushness, and they help frame a view by guiding the eye towards outdoor light.
If you’re looking for a fun, low-maintenance activity for an event (or if you’re simply the kind of person who needs to do something with their hands), consider having a flower crown-making station. Depending on your budget, you can invest in a few buckets of flowers for relatively cheap. Then, simply purchase some heavy jewelry wire and neutral-colored craft tape and let your guests do the rest!
When styling interior florals, think of a color concept and stick to it. Consistency is key. For our Floral Salon, we went with a Baroque color palette that harkened to the original salons of 18th century France (vermillion, ultramarine, naples yellow, indigo, and carmines).
For a dramatic effect, we added a floral arch constructed from woven grape vines and roses that were integrated by hand. We’ll be posting a how-to on this specific arch soon, but in the meantime: remember to use your ceiling space. Just because a garden blossoms in the ground doesn’t mean it can’t be styled to defy gravity.
