At Garden Collage, we’re always looking for ways to reuse common household items– finding new life for things that would otherwise get tossed. For Lil’ Sprouts learning to garden, kitchen utensils are perfectly-sized. Here are a few creative uses…
Baby food jars cover young seedlings and keep them warm when the weather is too cool. Use them on top of planters indoors!
Giant forks are the ideal size to stand in as a hoe for Lil’ Sprouts. Use them to dig up weeds or break up dirt to refresh your beds.
Use a ladle to gently water young plants (and keep Lil’ Sprouts from overwatering with a watering can).
Ice cream scoopers make for fun, Lil’ Sprout-sized shovels (and they’re less sharp). Use them for small scale gardening, like setting up cute planters!
Use the end of a wooden spoon as a dibble to make holes for seeds and then use the spoons as planter labels. Just write the names on the back of the spoon!
