Landgasthof Bresch is a converted farmhouse in rural Germany that was transformed under the helm of Tobias Schweitzer, who bought the abandoned property in the mid-2000’s with the intent of transforming it into a garden-inspired home.
Before the renovation, Schweitzer held jobs as a gardener, landscape architect, and journalist, pooling the money he made and the creative eye he developed in these trades to fully renovate the farmhouse and garden.
Schweitzer aims to make his guests feel as though they are in a friend’s house– they can use his kitchen, hang out in the living room, on the terrace, and of course: they can play and roam freely inside the property’s huge garden.
In order to have a place to entertain, Schweitzer has transformed the old pigs’ shed into a cosy bar that he now calls “Schweinebar” (or “The Pig Bar”).
Garden Collage recently had the pleasure of staying at Landgasthof Bresch for a wedding, but there was a mistake on the guest list, so GC contributor Caterina Rancho was tasked with making herself at home in the barn!
This didn’t pose as much of a challenge as it sounds: there was a bed and cupboard inside of the earthen space, which was both rustic and charming at the same time. Rancho spiffed up the bed by filling it with hay and assembling a few pieces of furniture and lamps to make an ideal natural oasis that the rest of the guests came to envy.
Now that it has been shaped into an oasis of relaxation, Landgasthof Bresch has become an official guest house, which has enough space for around 25 people to stay (an ideal size for a small wedding party).
The garden-focused, genteel nature of the architecture and the way in which it plays together with nature make Landgasthof Bresch a wonderful destination for weddings, vacations, and get-togethers among friends and family. It’s particularly suited for people who love gardens, travel, and the kind of unique spaces that come about whenever the two collide.
