The Sanderson Hotel in London hosts a daily Alice In Wonderland-themed tea party at their courtyard garden in Fitzrovia. Garden Collage recently paid a visit to the space to find out what makes the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party so special.
The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party begins with a selection of highly-curated tea, which patrons are invited to smell before ordering.
The full spread– including finger sandwiches, baked goods, fruit and cream “drink me” potions, carrot meringue, jelly, chocolate matcha dessert mousse, and (in this case), London’s finest strawberry-and-custard tea.
Carrot meringue is made in house and served on a bed of locally-grown pea shoots, which also adorn the tables as decoration.
Chocolate “Queen of Hearts” cups, layered strawberry “Tick-Tock Clock” cake, and mango mousse teardrops.
The mini “Drink Me” potions served with the scones consist of passion fruit jelly, coconut panna cotta, and cream, which is mixed together to form a delightful “potion” that is meant to be taken like a shot.
The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party menus are published inside hardcover storybooks, and the napkins are wrapped in riddles.
The loose leaf tea “smelling selection” on the day Garden Collage attended the Tea Party included Rhubarb and Custard, Apple Pie, and Strawberries & Cream.
The Sanderson Hotel makes its own strawberry-flavored “mushroom” marshmallows.
The Sanderson Hotel makes all of its items in-house, including a green tea-flavored mousse inside of an all-chocolate “Queen of Hearts” cup.
The Garden Collage seal of approval.
