Events We Love: Shamanic and Indigenous Arts Market
On Sunday, July 9th from noon to 8 PM, The Ark will be hosting a Shamanic and Indigenous Arts Market with ethically sourced items from across the Amazon jungle, the Andean Mountains, Colombia, Ecuador, and Egypt.
While vendors have gotten into hot water over accusations of cultural appropriation, the market is organized by the Sacred Arts Research Foundation, whose mission is to “provide support for the sacred arts through the provision of funds, space and resources for artists,” and assures visitors that their items are “fair trade.”
When not hosting events, the Sacred Arts Research foundation is setting up other artists gatherings, like didgeridoo circles in Central Park.
Admission to the event is free, with vegetarian food will also be available for purchase.
The Ark is located at 107 Green Street #G55, Brooklyn, NY. To learn more, visit their website.
