Event We Love: Fill Your Pantry, Portland 2017
“The Fill Your Pantry event is an excellent opportunity for community members to purchase bulk quantities of staple and storage crops directly from farmers,” the event organizers explain on their website.
“Stock up with dry beans, grains, flours, nuts, honey, root veggies, garlic, onions, winter squash, pasture raised meat, and more. By purchasing responsibly grown produce from Oregon producers, you are actively participating in the betterment of our local food system!”
This Fill Your Pantry event is an excellent opportunity for community members to purchase bulk quantities of staple and storage crops directly from farmers.
The online ordering period runs until November 28, and participants can pre-order online with debit, credit, or SNAP benefits. (All payments will be processed after the ordering period, with the exception of SNAP, which will be processed in person on site. Please notes that a credit card will be required to hold online orders for SNAP benefit holders. In those instances, participants should writer EBT in the notes section of the confirmation page.)
Fill Your Pantry is an excellent opportunity to support the farmers who have grown, assembled, and transported amazing food to their local community. A bulk-purchasing event like this also insures less packaging is used in transport (which is good for people trying to mitigate their use of plastic, disposable bags, and the like).
