Events We Love: Sonoma County Fermentation Festival

Sonoma may be known for its wine, but there’s so much more to the area’s fermentation scene.

The Sonoma Fermentation Festival takes place on September 2, 2017 from 11 AM to 5 PM at the Petaluma Fairgrounds– is your one-way, flavor-town ticket to discovering the wide world of bacteria (yum). Gut health and the microbiome are having a moment (or several) in the wellness world, and festivals around the United States are drawing in curious new consumers.

At the Sonoma Fermentation Festival, visitors can look forward to a vendor hall with samples of traditional ferments like pickles and kombuchas in addition to more fringe concoctions like fermented salsas, as well as a Libation Lounge, talks from authors and experts, and (the ultimate late summer treat) fermented root beer floats. Local favorites like Bubbies Pickles and The Kefiry will be in attendance, serving up their finest ferments.

Don’t think you like kombucha? Just wait til you try the BU.
