Belgian-based design firm Studio Segers’ Ultra-Modern Chicken Coop incorporates elements of architecture, agriculture, and design.
Featuring a flat-pack design that is as functional indoors as out, Studio Seger’s Daily Needs Chicken Coop and Garden won the prestigious Ovam Eco Design Award in 2013.
As a bespoke indoor or outdoor coop, it can be tailored to both urban exterior and rural environments, and was designed with ecological materials and local production in mind. With its modular design and compact configuration, it is easy to set up and functional as a element of design (which is to say: it’s nice to look at).
Raised beds provide an opportunity to garden in a closed-loop circuit on the exterior of the coop.
The coop’s exterior is made with a soft moisture-resistant pine called Thermowood, which helps it withstand the elements.
The coop provides all the components necessary to assemble housing for chickens and small pets, raised beds for vegetables, a composting bin, and a tool shed in a configuration of the owner’s choice.
