February is a month often associated with sweets and flowers, and in the case of maintaining your roses, it’s possible to have both! A little known fact about one of the world’s most visible flowers is that they love sweet water– which is why “sugar” is often a common ingredient on conventional flower food.

Roses like warm water (just like hydrangeas) and if you add a dash of sugar to the water, the flowers will open faster. It’s a good way to make sure that you get those blooms open in time for a party. Just a spoonful of sugar makes the….roses happy.
