The Alchemist’s Kitchen’s New Dinner Series Brings Together Food and Spirituality
While the food, herbal remedies, and mind-body healing products offered at New York City’s Alchemist’s Kitchen might be the cafe’s biggest draw, a new dinner series led by herbalists, healers, and whole food chefs might soon become what they are known for. The Alchemist’s Kitchen‘s Earthly Delights & Spiritual Abundance Dinner and Talk Series is the latest addition to the cafe’s impressive programming lineup, as the first iteration of the event took place last week on Valentine’s Day.
For the Valentine’s Day appropriate “Passion and Spice” event, alchemically-minded chef Jennifer Iserloh (who has previously cooked for the likes of Jerry Seinfeld and Annie Leibovitz) teamed with the The Alchemist’s Kitchen’s Culinary Chef Tilo Folla to create a four-course meal focusing on different kinds of chilis– a known aphrodisiac and a class of healing foods that are famously good for improving digestion, immunity, metabolism, and overall wellbeing.
Guest Speaker Natalie Geld, author of [easyazon_link identifier=”B00MD5VJ1E” locale=”US” tag=”gardcoll03-20″]Sensual Intelligence: An Introduction To Your Body’s Language[/easyazon_link], led a conversation about consciousness and sexuality along with the meal. (The menu included Shishito Peppers with Sriracha Mayo Dipping Sauce, Roasted Poblano Chiles Stuffed with Cinnamon spiced Spinach and Raisins, Peanut Noodles with Shaved Pickled Chili Garnish, and a Mexican Spiced Chocolate Mouse with Fresh Berries that left many guests quite literally asking for more.)
Enhanced by its friendly atmosphere, the “Passion and Spice” dinner was a beautiful event aimed at “lifting the skirt” of typically taboo subjects while focusing in on insightful knowledge and well-being surrounding sexuality– broader goals underscored by The Alchemist’s Kitchen’s mission, specifically designed to spice up the holiday.
Located at 21 East 1st Street in Manhattan, The Alchemist’s Kitchen is a cafe, curiosity shop, and folk medicine pharmacy all in one– a botanical wellness hub aimed at “celebrating the power of plants for conscious living”. From herbal tincture tastings to classes on how to make your own natural skincare products, the space is dedicated to botanical plants and herbal remedies, administered with support from leading herbalists, whole plant beauty practitioners, and the best wellness educators in the city. The dinner series continues on March 22nd with Nourish Your Inner Being, once again featuring food by Jennifer Iserloh and Tilo Folla, who will be joined by Patrick Fratellone, MD, President of the American Herbalists Guild, who will discuss the benefits of an anti-inflammatory diet.
