Gucci’s Garden Exclusive Is Everything We’ve Ever Wanted In Our Closets
“I have a deep interest towards Nature, a passion which I guess can be seen through my collections, I have a sort of an animist soul”— so writes Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s Creative Director, in his announcement of Gucci’s Garden Exclusive— a special collection of clothing featuring colorful floral prints, animal patterns, butterflies, and a recurring Kingsnake motif.
True to its name, Gucci’s Garden Exclusive is available exclusively on Gucci.com, with a women’s collection whose pattern interplay and delicate tailoring cohere around some of the most Gucci-worthy designs we’ve ever seen.
Butterflies bob and weave amidst climbing vines on Princetown slippers and Ace sneakers while full-length floral silk skirts and reversible silk bomber jackets offer just the right mix of elegance and edginess. (Our team is particularly partial to the reversible floral cardigan, which garnered vigorous nods of approval.)
“Between the flowers, butterflies, ladybugs, birds, bees, and colored beetles, the dress is ‘a veritable Gucci Garden’, designed to resemble an oil painting with brushstrokes on the flower petals, butterfly wings, and leaves.”
Highlights from the collection include a gorgeous black floral silk dress, whose pleated skirt is made of silk crêpe de chine—the floral print is specially placed with precise engineering to position the motif on the garment in order to highlight the details of its tailoring. Between the flowers, butterflies, ladybugs, birds, bees, and colored beetles, the dress is “a veritable Gucci Garden”, designed to resemble an oil painting with brushstrokes on the flower petals, butterfly wings, and leaves. It’s an exciting collection with beautifully timeless pieces– more evidence that when it comes to gardens and design, “the Italians”– as the saying goes– “do it better”.
