Pantone’s 2017 “Color of the Year” Embraces Nature as a Source of Inspiration

Greenery (15-0343) is very Garden Collage!

Yesterday, Pantone announced their 2017 color of the year– and it’s perfectly in line with the GC mission. Greenery (15-0343) is, in many ways, a continuation of last year’s rose quartz and serenity, which were all about “mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses”. But where Greenery takes it a step further is in directly embracing nature as the source of and space for clarity.

“Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape,” Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, added to the announcement.

The yellow green hue feels fresh and bright, ever so slightly muted, and most reminiscent of the green found along the leaves of an aloe plant. Pantone refers to the shade as “nature’s neutral”, and like the source of its inspiration, Pantone believes the shade can fit in just about anywhere: “paired with neutrals, brights, deeper shades, pastels, metallics and even the enduring presence of PANTONE Color of the Year 2016, Rose Quartz and Serenity”. We think this color is much needed and can’t wait to see what the next year brings!
