Inspiration in Bloom: A Quick Spotlight on Gainey Ceramics

In addition to being a “California Original”, Gainey Ceramics offer some of the most beautifully-crafted pots and planters in the world of modern gardening. We recently re-discovered the brand on a staff trip to California, where we saw several compelling planters styled at Denise Portman’s Merchant Home, so we wanted to give our readers a little perspective on how the right planter can act as a linchpin of any interior design concept– see the images below for inspiration!

Originally founded in La Verne, California by John Gainey– who purchased what was once the pottery shop he was working at in 1949– the company began by producing water bottles and dog bowls, later expanding to include ceramics that the company sourced for retail gardening centers across the country. Now almost 60 years later, Gainey produces hand-crafted tile inspired by cultures across the globe– but we’re big fans of their functional plant containers, whose warmth and hand-finished craftsmanship have made them a growing favorite among landscapers, interior designers, and gardeners alike. Below, we’ve compiled a few examples of different Gainey “looks”– interiors that offer yet more proof of the fact that plants can be seamlessly integrated into any living space, indoors or out.
