Monstera Deliciosa

Monstera

Monstera deliciosa is THE go-to houseplant for pretty much everyone under 40; it's the plant you see most at cool vintage shops in NYC, and in almost every apartment with houseplants.

Why We Love It

Monstera is popular for a reason: it's easy to care for and loves warm temperatures. With those big, cute, floppy leaves, it's the Eeyore of plants.

Requirements

Monstera needs a very warm environment-- interior temps should hover around at least 65 degrees or warmer. Water it weekly or whenever the first inch of soil feels wet, and scale back even further in the winter to prevent over-watering from lack of evaporation.

Hole-y Cow

Those holes are normal, y'all. As a monstera ages it may get big holes in the leaves--Monstera deliciosa can look different at different stages of life, just like you in your Emo Phase. This is what you signed up for when you decided to become a plant parent.

The Swiss Cheese Plant

In fact, Monstera deliciosa's iconic, split leaves have earned it the nickname "The Swiss Cheese Plant".
