Common Vervain

Common Vervain

Common vervain-- lesser known than its relatives lemon verbena or blue vervain-- is said to have grown from the tears of the Ancient Egyptian goddess Isis.

Why We Love It

For centuries vervain has been sacred to many cultures (Persians, Druids, worshippers of Thor) and it's easy to understand why: this plant is easy to grow and can be used for a number of folk remedies.

Requirements

This pollinator-friendly plant just needs direct sunlight-- it'll grow just about anywhere.

Get Bach To Yourself

The tiny purple flower was one of the original 38 Bach flower remedies, and is used to relax those with fanatic tendencies (it's also a good remedy for insomnia and is used to relieve upper body tension).

Vampire Slayer

Vervain was long thought to have mystical properties. In The Vampire Diaries universe, it wards off the titular creatures.
